Just a reminder, September 1st will be the first official day of my 30-in-30 painting challenge. My theme will be my hometown of St. Mary's Ontario.
Why St. Marys?
One of my artistic mentors, Stephen Quiller, says “paint what you know”. I wanted to choose a theme I had a personal connection with. As a landscape painter – St. Mary’s seemed like the logical option. In addition to being a picturesque town, people from St. Marys are proud to live there. I am so excited to share my art with them.

Here are some quick FYI's on the challenge
I was out painting this morning with the London Plein Air Group.
We visited the Van Geffen Farm... owned by my old friend Karen and her husband. I first met Karen in grade 5 - and remember being in awe of her artist talent even back then. We hadn't been in touch for the past few years... but have been brought back together through art and painting!
I took a time lapse video of my farm painting today... check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqHKXG-UW5w
I'm excited to share this video with you! This is a commission I completed for one of my favourite collectors! Note - the painting was done in my studio, while the final photo was taken outside in the shade. As such - the colour looks a bit different in the final painting at the end. Hope you enjoy!
I wanted to share the following video... the story about how I had to pursue a different career to learn I wanted to be an artist. I put this together as part of a content marketing class I am currently taking online (through the Abundant Artist... I'd highly recommend this course for any artists out there!).
Enjoy! Talk to everyone soon.

I am excited to announce I will be doing another 30-day painting challenge this Sept 2015. For those of you who are new to my blog - for each day of September, I will be complete a painting of a landscape from St. Mary's and surrounding area!
Why St. Marys?
This town is near and dear to my heart. It is the town I grew up... well grew up near (technically I lived outside of town on a dairy farm).
I took my first art lessons in St. Marys, I went to high school in St. Marys, my parents are from the St. Marys area, etc...
I am looking forward to sharing my art and some stories about this wonderful town throughout September!
I believe art is meant to be shared. I am a Canadian landscape painter that works primary in oils & acrylics. I create works both en plein air & in the studio.
