The long weekend is here - yippy!! have been enjoying painting time and getting ready for the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge - starts Sept 1 (hosted by Leslie Saeta). For those of you not familiar with the challenge, I will be posting a new painting each day for the month of September. Be sure to sign up to follow my blog & to receive email updates. This weeks painting is my contribution to the WDE at WetCanvas. Thanks to my fellow Ontarian Jean for hosting and providing lovely photos in which to paint. I couldn't resist painting the beautiful light/shadows of these merry cherries. I have also included a few work in progress photos. In light of the upcoming 30-in-30, today I decided to gift myself a new paint box (an upgrade from my old box which involved fishing through a sea of tubes to find the right colour). I picked up a fancy tackle box from Canadian Tire and fashioned this paint box. Check out the photos below!

It's week 11 and painting is going well. In addition to painting, I have been planning for September's 30 paintings in 30 days (i.e. cutting 8"x10" paper, picking my photos, choosing a theme). I have also been working on setting up an Etsy page in which to offer my art for sale (coming soon!!)
This week, I have two new paintings. "Behind the Barn" depicts my parents family farm - captured from a field behind the farm. My second painting, "Thai Sunrise" is my contribution to this weeks WDE at WC. Thanks to Ai for hosting and providing a stunning selection of photos. Well, it's my first post on my new blog - now located on my website. In addition to the two paintings I am posting this week, I have included a couple fun photos of our cats helping me paint today! I'm also proud to announce I'll be participating in the 30 paintings in 30 days, hosted by Leslie Saeta - starting Sept 1!!! September will be a busy month... but I should have lots of paintings to post.
