SOLD For those of you who don't know - I was born & raised on a diary farm. Today's painting was inspired by a photo I recently took at my family's farm. During this challenge, I plan to share a few stories from my years growing up on the farm. My first fun farm fact is that I used to be in a 4H calf club. As part of of the calf club, I got to train my own calf and then enter it in a show at the Stratford fair. My brother Rob was in the club with me - and thank goodness he was! He always helped me clip my calf's hair and style it's top line (the top line is the hair on the calfs back, right above the spine). While I really enjoyed 4H, I was not winning any competitions! I was more interested in cuddling and spoiling my calf rather than training her to walk nicely with a halter! On a side note, for those of you who aren't familiar with 4H, it includes a variety of clubs and activities based on a “Learn To Do By Doing” philosophy. The four H’s stand for head, heart, hands and health (check out more at 4-H Ontario). Till Tomorrow, Kathy Photo credit to Robert Taylor, photo available under the creative commons licence
